Catching Up

I've felt a little bit out of the loop because I lost a couple of days early this week to the flat-on-your-back, can't-swallow-sore-throat, temperature-swinging flu. I started to get a sore throat on Sunday afternoon on our way home from Iowa City and by bedtime I was feverish. By morning I felt like I'd been beaten soundly and didn't spend much of Monday or Tuesday out of bed. I don't remember a time when I had such strange symptoms. No stomach rumblies, thank goodness, but on top of the throat and head, to have my whole body ache was just strange. My joints ached and my scalp was tender for three days. My back is still sore. If that's what it feels like to get old, then I have a new-found sympathy for our elderly.

Enough of that. The reason we were in Iowa City was to see our good buddies Luke and Tammia and their growing tribe, and to introduce Paxton to someone his own size. Paxton and Jarris became best of buddies right away and quickly found a quite corner to discuss deep and meaningful things.

"Now this one here seems to be attached as well, but I'm not sure what it's used for just yet..." "Mmmm."

Luke tried his hand at pacifying the spit factory. Does a good job.

Here's the whole crew. Of kids, I mean. We don't seem to have gotten any family pictures, just kids. Jarris is just two and a half months older than Paxton, but it's amazing how much difference there is between the two of them in size and coordination. A few months makes a big difference when you're zero, I guess.

Well, it was nice to see everyone and to be back in Iowa City again. Thanks again for your hospitality L & T! Now if I can just find the two days that I misplaced after we got home...

Awww... looks like you had a good trip. They were kind enough to stop and see us last month and I finally got my hands on that adorable little Jarrisman. Your family's looking good... And your little man is 7? How is that possible? Just yesterday we were all camping (no kids in sight) in WI, wasn't it?
