Eclipse Pics

I don't know how many of you noticed the lunar eclipse the other night, or whether your sky was clear enough to see it, but we had nearly perfect conditions. I happened to remember to go outside and take a look. Pretty cool. I also tried to take a couple of pictures and found that endeavor to be a lot harder than it looks. What speed and exposure do you use on a full moon that's rapidly disappearing? And why can I see so much detail and color with my eyes, but can't seem to suck it into the camera? And, did you know that the moon and stars are moving? I had the camera on a tripod, held the shutter open for 30 seconds, and got a few star streaks and an oval, blurry moon. Anyway, I did get one decent partial eclipse and a slightly blurry shot at full eclipse. Then I went to bed. The local newspaper had a much better shot the next morning.

It's cool to think that we were looking at the same moon that night....Come to think of it, I guess it's the same moon every night!
