While the mainstay of Paxtonspeak is still one-word sentences, his vocabulary is growing rapidly and his communication skills are well on their way.
And he's started to pick up his brother's expressions and mannerisms. The other day Andrea asked him to do something that must not have jived with a two-year-old's idea of fun. He crossed his arms in a exasperated pout and retorted, "Okay, fine!"
Yesterday we were at Taco Bell and Paxton was hungry. Our food came, and as I set the tray down in front of him he breathed a sigh of relief, "Ahhhh... Happy!" Me too, Paxton, me too.
Sometimes he has the words right, but puts the pauses in the wrong place in the sentence. For instance, he likes to keep track of where his big brothers are so one of his favorite questions lately has been, "Where Antee? Go?"
Tonight he was playing peek-a-boo. He covered his eyes and said, "Where Pakon?" Then with great flourish he'd throw his hands in the air, "Peekee Beau!" His brothers tried to help. "Paxton, say 'peek-a'!" "Peeka." "Say 'boo'!" "Boo!" "Peek-a-boo!" "Peekee-bear...Boo!" Nice try guys.
We were in the car last week with some music on and I got a phone call. I turned off the radio to take the call and then forgot to turn it back on again. It was quite for a minute, then from the back we heard an urgent little voice: "Daddy! More! LaLa!"
